Beautiful town with a lot of history embedded. Places one needs to visit include Penrith Castle, Brougham Castle, Long Meg and Daughters. The cafes and restaurants at Penrith are cute and exude that family vibe. Highly recommend to do a stop-over at Penrith.

we visited Penrith as a bit of nostalgia as we used to go frequently in the past. The town was very quiet although we found a very good restaurant, GRANTS, for a delicious evening meal. It used to be a bustling market town which seems to have lost its heart . Maybe internet shopping has affected the economy of the town as is the case in many towns. It is perhaps a useful place to stay to explore the surrounding area which remains beautiful.

We used The Station Hotel as a stop off for a day trip to Scotland and could have stayed longer in Penrith as we barely took a look around. We had some dramas and it is credit to staff and management that they were able to sort booking confusions quickly and professionally. Thanks folks.

Penrith as a great place to base yourself for a stay in the Lake District. It's quieter than the more popular and populous towns of Keswick and Windermere - except in March when it hosts the World Marmalade Festival and, according to Karen and Ali from Blue Swallow Guesthouse, the town is decorated with Paddington Bears and Honey Pots. They even boast having one of the champion marmalade makers stay with them on an annual basis.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location. The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Reception area and seating areas downstairs were welcoming and comfortable, with large sofas and open fireplaces. It had a really nice atmosphere. Bar and reception staff were friendly. Hotel has a good central location for exploring the beautiful Lake District - just a short walk into Penrith and a 10 minute drive from the Ullswater Steamer.

We only stayed overnight but were very impressed with this small hotel. It was right in the middle of Penrith on the main road but very quiet overnight. Breakfast included great and alternative choices. The room was large and well appointed with a spacious bathroom and excellent walk-in shower. We would stay here again.

Great central location in Penrith for a stay for work. Close to all shops and services in Penrith and the hotel has a convenient private car park which was £3.00 per stay. The room was very comfortable and warm, much needed during the cold snap! Breakfast was good, staff were friendly and available,

Really nice middle ground between camping and a hotel. Really modern and unique experience to stay in the pod, lovely outdoor area with lots of nature around you and very quiet. Great location for Ullswater as it’s a short drive away. Kitchen facilities including fridge to bring snacks and drinks.

Great clean hotel and rooms and good location in the middle of penrith. Breakfast is great and very filling if going for the Full english. Can recommend the pub opposite the hotel, thought we would pop in for a quick drink and ended up drinking with the locals for 4.5 hours.
